Grolleman goes for the innovative approach

Client:   Grolleman Coldstore
Location:  'De Ecofactorij' industrial estate in Apeldoorn
Contract: To develop an NH3-CO2 cascade refrigeration system based on the latest technological developments

Grollemans Coldstore is a hyper-modern, semi-automatic cold-store with facilities for deep-freezing. GTI Koudetechniek built both the facilities and the cold rooms for processing meat products. The assignment was to design the most environmentally-friendly and sustainable facility possible.

GTI Koudetechniek took a critical look at the user's requirements and designed the most energy-efficient refrigeration and freezing systems possible. In addition, GTI Koudetechniek fitted the cooling plant with a heat recovery system with a high and low water temperature water circuit. The high water temperature circuit is used for the crate washer and for cleaning the rooms; the other circuit is used for floor heating in the offices amongst other areas. The system has been built for the future. Should it prove necessary at a later date, GTI Koudetechniek can cool rooms at high speed to a temperature of -50 degrees.

Dick Grolleman (managing director): "The application of CO2  and the heat recovery system means that the extra investment repays itself in a very short term. Besides this, the innovative design makes a significant contribution to the objective ?sustainability? set by De Ecofactorij industrial estate."
