GTI has been awarded the contract for replacing and renewing the electrical systems of the Havenziekenhuis and Institute for Tropical Diseases in Rotterdam. In order to comply with current building requirements and regulations, the hospital is to undergo extensive renovation works. The cost of the planned renovation of the technical systems is estimated at around EUR 1.5 million. The project got underway in June 2007, and is expected to be completed at the end of 2009.

The Havenziekenhuis is a general hospital which specialises in tropical diseases. The challenge facing GTI is to carry out its work while all departments of the hospital remain operational 24 hours a day. GTI was awarded the contract because of its expertise and experience in this field.

The renovation goes beyond merely replacing or renewing the technical systems. A wider goal is to improve the surroundings for hospital workers, patients and visitors. For example, all patients will have access to a bedside LCD TV with radio function. GTI is responsible for the CAI installation and the data and telephone network. All the technical facilities, such as fire detection and evacuation alarm systems are to be brought up to a high-quality standard. With its expertise in technical solutions, GTI is able to contribute to Human Comfort; making the working, visiting and living environment more pleasant.
