AEB grants Fabricom GTI contract for mechanical installation
Brussel/Moerdijk, February 24, 2005In the middle of November 2004, the Waste and Energy Enterprise Amsterdam (Afval Energie Bedrijf: AEB), a division of the city of Amsterdam, granted Fabricom GTI the order for the design, delivery, production, assembly and implementation of 'section 34', part of the expansion of the current plant, a High Efficiency Waste Energy plant (HE plant). Section 34 comprises the process piping systems; the process section between boiler and turbine. This order involves an amount of approximately € 23 million.
Section 34 comprises various parts: steam/condensate, water, air, the assembly of the re-heater and the assembly of turbine/generator/condenser (including utility piping, commissioning). The High Efficiency plant will deliver more sustainable energy from waste due to the higher net electrical return compared to the customary electrical return in existing waste energy plants.
The start of the test unit of the High Efficiency plant has been scheduled for the second half of 2006.
Fabricom GTI is responsible for the entire design, for calculations and the routing of piping, design of equipment such as back-up condenser, pumps, tanks and the accompanying instruments and control. The project may be considered as a "Balance of Plant", where the connection is made between the boilers of the Martin NEM Combination and the Siemens turbine generator.
This order fits in perfectly with Fabricom GTI's plan to - among other things - focus on the execution of projects in the energy market. In the execution of this project, Fabricom GTI will be working closely with GTI Industriële Service Noordwest, the Belgian sister organisation Tractebel Engineering and EPG.
