Fabricom Oil & Gas and AMEC Investments Europe Ltd. begin Offshore Solutions joint venture
IJmuiden, June 22, 2007Fabricom Oil & Gas BV, part of GTI, and AMEC are launching a joint venture called Offshore Solutions. Both parties signed the contract on Friday 11 May. Offshore Solutions will kick off with the sale of a successful and innovative concept: the Offshore Access System (OAS). The aim of setting up Offshore Solutions is to capitalise on the worldwide expertise and networks of both partners, facilitating fast market introduction and production and giving rise to synergy in marketing, sales and support.
The OAS concept means that multifunctional teams with all the necessary resources, such as tools and spare parts, are stationed on a ship. Thanks to the 'advanced heave-compensated' technology, ships on rough seas can make a secure connection with a satellite, for example with unmanned platforms. That allows the teams to perform their tasks? for example, ?campaign driven maintenance? ? in a very efficient and safe way. This is why there is so much interest in this concept, which has already proven itself in the southern North Sea.
The Offshore Access System was launched in May 2006 after intensive testing at sea. In the same year, this innovative product, which was developed by Fabricom Oil & Gas, won the prestigious ?Award for Excellence in Safety? at the IchemE Awards as well as the Energy Institute?s 'Innovation Award'. It is therefore mainly the increased safety and the considerable improvement in the efficiency of activities on satellites (NUI?s) that make this product so successful.
Offshore Solutions plans to develop derived solutions based on the existing OAS concept ? for example, for smaller manned ships. Both parties also expect to open up new markets with Offshore Solutions. AMEC has a good reputation and enjoys excellent brand recognition worldwide in the oil and gas industry. The expertise of both Fabricom Oil & Gas and AMEC in the Offshore Solutions joint venture creates a solid basis for the provision of powerful offshore solutions.
AMEC is a global organisation active in the field of high-quality technical services, such as consultancy, engineering and project management. More than 45,000 employees work for AMEC in more than 40 countries, and AMEC?s turnover in 2006 was 4.8 billion euros.
Fabricom Oil & Gas provides expertise in engineering, manufacture and maintenance for both onshore and offshore projects. Fabricom Oil & Gas is a subsidiary of GTI.
