Bunnik/Heinenoord,  August 24, 2005

GTI Infra bv, Ooms Avenhorn and Bemo Rail have jointly secured a EUR 54 million contract to build the Euromax Terminal on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam.

The state-of-the-art container terminal is a joint venture between ECT and P&O Nedlloyd, and is designed to accommodate the sharp rise in container traffic. It will be located next to the Maasvlakte Oil Terminal in the north-western part of the Maasvlakte. The terminal on the proposed Maasvlakte II will be further extended in the future. During the first phase (which has already begun), a surface area of approximately 80 hectares will be built on.

The multidisciplinary contract will cover civil engineering aspects, the crane rails, platforms and electrical connections. GTI will be responsible for the design, delivery, installation and operationalisation of the purchasing and distribution stations, the lighting and camera masts, PLC controls and cabling. The various plots will be taken into use on a phased basis from the end of 2007 onwards.
