Energy Efficiency Congress, including National Energy Debate 2007
Amsterdam, July 23, 2007Most people today are well aware that energy consumption has huge drawbacks, and research institutes underline this fact. Problems such as environmental pollution and climate change have taken on dramatic proportions. But what can we do about it? Answers include: reducing the demand for energy, using sustainable resources, and ensuring that fossil fuels are used as cleanly as possible. But how can we achieve all this without damaging our competitive position, sacrificing comfort or driving up costs?
These issues form the core of the Energy Efficiency Congress being held on 24 September in Amsterdam. Where the consequences for our future if we do nothing will be made plain. Where national and international speakers will present their vision of what the world needs now. Where it will be clearly explained that energy saving and cost reduction can go hand in hand. And where a number of prominent speakers will contemplate the role which technology can, or should, be playing in these issues. They will demonstrate how proven technologies such as heat/cold storage in buildings, or the use of bio-diesel, can benefit your organisation. And finally, a so-called innovation carousel will introduce the very latest technologies in this field, ranging from the childishly simple to the unbelievably complex, but all making a contribution to energy efficiency.
During the National Energy Debate 2007, the discussion will focus on the possibilities and impossibilities, the desired and undesired consequences of energy savings, alternative energy sources, reduced emissions and use of bio-fuels.
Taking part in the debate will be: Hans Alders (Queen?s Commissioner in Groningen and member of the Advice on Emissions Reduction committee), Lucas Reijnders, Jan Pronk (former Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment), Jan Terlouw (former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs), Harry Hendriks (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Philips Electronics Nederland), Hans Altevogt (Climate & Energy campaign leader at Greenpeace) and Edo van den Assem (CEO GTI NV).
