Damen Shipyards developed two fast ferries for the province of Zeeland. The so-called 'SWATHs' (Small Water Area Twin Hull vessels) were built by Damen/Schelde Shipyards and GTI constructed the entire piping system.

Lightweight materials
As a result of the top speed of the SWATHs (about 16.5 knots), it was necessary to reduce weight wherever possible. The obvious solution was for GTI to use lightweight materials and most of the piping systems are made of ABS plastic, aluminium, cunifer and stainless steel. GTI also used thin flanges, Straub couplings and plastic brackets.
