The Northern and Eastern Netherlands Traffic Control Centre of the Directorate-General of Public Works and Water Management is a modern control centre that enables it to proactively manage traffic on main roads in the region. The control centre uses detection loops, cameras and information from road services to monitor traffic flows. Where necessary, adjustments are made using variable message (matrix) signs and dynamic route information panels (DRIPs).

Work carried out
GTI was responsible for:

  • the electrotechnical work, from design to operational systems;
  • the project management and automation;
  • design, detailing, manufacture, delivery, installation and putting into operation of the traffic, operating and other systems;
  • moving the traffic, communication and other systems from the temporary Eastern Netherlands Traffic Control Centre to the new control centre.


For a year after delivery, GTI was responsible for keeping the centre operational, maintaining it and guaranteeing the project as a whole.
