Contract: Energy facilities from design to operation
Client: St Elisabeth Hospital
Location: Tilburg
St Elisabeth Hospital was the first Dutch health care institution to outsource all its energy facilities to an external company. The boiler house no longer complied with environmental standards and energy capacity had not kept pace with the hospital's expansion. The hospital opted for the most economical solution: outsourcing all its energy facilities on a lease basis. GTI designed, implemented and now operates the new power plant, and the investment is being financed by a lease company.
Work carried out
The new power plant was delivered in 2006. GTI was responsible for its design, which has a number of energy-saving features including flue gas coolers to increase boiler output and low-NOx burners to minimise emissions. Thorough preparation and excellent cooperation between hospital staff and GTI's specialists made it possible to keep the hospital fully operational. GTI is still responsible for operating the plant.
