GTI recently designed, installed and implemented a new building management system (BMS) for the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam. Its 140,000-plus physical data points make it one of the largest building management systems in the Netherlands. It brings together all the centre's individual facility management systems (climate control, security, lighting, sunblind and nurse-call) in a single central system and enables the centre to take a professional approach to its maintenance, energy and facility management. The system was designed with an eye to making it easy to incorporate any future expansion or new developments.

Work carried out
The new building management system was delivered in the spring of 2006 and GTI was responsible for:

• designing and installing the new building management system;
• moving the security service (first-line fault service for all the centre's building-based installations), including the existing building management system, to a new location while keeping all the security service?s functionalities operational.
• implementing the new system and connecting it to existing and new installations.
