Palm oil is gaining popularity in the food industry. The Malaysian company Kuok Oil & Grains has built a palm oil refinery in Rotterdam, where it processes the raw oil that is shipped by tankers from the Far East. On the order of the engineering company De Smet, GTI realised the installation of the entire production process, the mechanical engineering, the electrical engineering, the instrumentation, and the tracing and insulation of the piping.

The piping (which will eventually transport 800 to 1000 tons of palm oil a day) was prefabricated by GTI so that only assembly was required on site. This resulted in important time savings. With GTI as a partner, De Smet and Kuok have opted for efficiency through the integral, multidisciplinary approach and excellent project management.
GTI completed the project in mid September 2005.
