Koole Tankstorage
Client: Koole Tankstorage
Location: Pernis
Contract: Installation of stainless steel piping
Storage and transhipment company Koole Tankstorage Pernis carried out a sweeping modernisation of its terminal for the storage of edible oils and fats in Rotterdam. The modernisation process included laying 27 kilometres of (mainly stainless steel) piping. GTI Food & Pharma constructed the piping.
The modernisation gave Koole a terminal with a capacity of 300,000 cubic metres, including 80,000 cubic metres of stainless steel storage tanks. After the modernisation, the terminal has two new jetties for sea-going vessels, eight jetties for inland shipping vessels and various loading stations for road and rail transport. The 27 kilometres of piping connects the jetties and the tank facility. GTI started work in the third quarter of 2002 and completed it in the third quarter of 2003. During work, the tank facility remained in use, which required accurate planning for the containment of the various sections of the facility.
